Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) years of experience in survey research, institutional research, higher education research or closely related functions. Experience programming complex survey instruments using Qualtrics or similar survey applications. Experience using SPSS, SAS, R, Stata or similar statistical analysis software. Experience managing, preparing, and analyzing raw data. Experience working with sensitive data.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Additional years of experience in survey research, institutional research, higher education research or closely related functions. Experience with people insights activities such as market research, communications analytics, user experience and behavioral research, or similar. Experience using SPSS. Experience using Qualtrics. Experience in a higher education setting working with faculty and staff.

Brief Description of Duties:
Reporting to the Director of Strategic Analytics and Technologies in the Division of Student Affairs, the Survey Research Analyst will plan and administer targeted and institution-wide surveys, prepare data files for shared usage with the Office of Institutional Research, Planning & Effectiveness, analyze survey results, and communicate findings to university constituencies. The position will be the lead on implementation of external institutional surveys such as the National Survey of Student Engagement, the SUNY Campus Climate Surveys, and similar instruments. The position, in collaboration with campus stakeholders, will also assist in design and development of local surveys for specific uses, including targeted areas in Student Affairs, pulse surveys for various constituencies, and other surveys as identified. The successful incumbent will prioritize and manage several projects concurrently. They will collaborate with diverse Stakeholders and have excellent analytical, writing, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.

  • Plan, administer, and collect data from surveys, using sound principles of survey design. Use Qualtrics to administer online surveys, monitor and bolster response rates, manage opt-out requests and follow-up questions, and extract data for analysis. Analyze and interpret the meaning of survey data using statistical software. Review, classify, and record survey data in preparation for computer analysis, including coding of qualitative survey data into quantitative codes.
  • Clean data and store as a well-structured SPSS file for shared usage with Institutional Research, Planning & Effectiveness; transform data into other formats for other platforms, such as Tableau. Prepare and present summaries and analyses of survey data, including tables, graphs, and fact sheets that describe survey techniques and results. Determine and specify details of survey projects, including sources of information, procedures to be used, and the design of survey instruments and materials. Consult with units and research teams in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of surveys. Monitor, evaluate, and update survey implementation and methods based on sample disposition reports and response rate calculations.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.

Essential Position: This has been designated as an essential position based on the duties of the job and the functions performed. Positions that are designated as such may be required to report to work/remain at work even if classes are cancelled, and the campus is working on limited operations in an emergency.

In accordance with the New York State Department of Health (DOH) order that all hospitals and nursing homes “continuously require all personnel to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19,” Candidates who are not already vaccinated must obtain the first dose of the vaccine within three (3) calendar days of acceptance of conditional job offer and must obtain any subsequent doses in accordance with the vaccine protocol. The order also includes those who may be affiliated with or interact with employees of a hospital or nursing home.
