What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Controller position at Stony Brook Regional Sewerage Authority?
Stony Brook Regional Sewerage Authority (SBRSA) seeks a proactive, hands-on Financial Controller (FC) with Governement experience to oversee the Authority’s financial operations. Successful applicants must be able to provide in-depth, extensive financial analysis and have a strong purchasing background.
Other responsibilities include maintaining meticulous records and ledgers, managing debt, managing investments and disbursement of funds, coordinating the annual audit, supervising and processing accounts payable/accounts receivable/payroll, overseeing grants and federal and State of New Jersey funding programs, developing financial policies and procedures, and managing all other functions of the finance department.
The FC will work with the Executive Director and department heads to prepare the annual budget and capital plan. The FC must be able to fulfill all obligations in compliance with New Jersey law and all relevant federal regulations.
Managerial skills and experience are a must. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationships. NJ State CMFO and QPA certification is preferred but not required. C.P.A. is strongly preferred. A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a relevant field is preferred. A minimum of 5 years of finance experience is preferred. Experience with Edmunds GovTech Software is a plus. Strong computer literacy is required, with proficiency in Microsoft Office. Salary will range from $95,000 to $110,000, depending upon qualifications.
