Position Summary
Demonstrate proficiency in the performance of all diagnostic and fluoroscopic examinations and equipment. Demonstrate proficiency in the use and application of pediatric immobilization devices adhering to safety precautions. Must prepare or enter written documentation as required by the Department, such as informed patient consent, patient chart documentation, and other related duties. Perform portable and operating room examinations in a timely and professional manner, must observe sterile and aseptic techniques when necessary. Check equipment supplies and accessories on a regular basis. Assess the physical needs of the adult and geriatric patients. Demonstrate the ability to recognize and ally patients' fears and apprehensions about exams. Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of work areas. Complete requested examinations in a timely manner, observing radiation safety standards. Address the special needs of each age group served and assist in making reasonable accommodations for the hearing impaired, physically challenged or any other patients who may enter the Hospital. Observes bio-safety and radiation safety rules and regulations. Responsibilities and duties may be added, changed or deleted at any time at the discretion of the Assistant Director of Radiology or the Director of Radiology, either verbally or in writing. Performs related duties in PACS. Responsible for knowing and adhering to established hospital/department policies and procedures, including all aspects of safety. Maintain and exhibit behavior that promotes patient confidence and trust. Capable of working independently/unsupervised.

Requirements, Experience And Qualifications
- High School Graduate or Equivalent required.
- Graduate of a program in Radiologic Technology
- NYSDOH License Required
- ARRT Required.
- Computer knowledge preferred.
- Stony Brook Medicine is a smoke-free environment. Smoking is strictly prohibited anywhere on campus, including parking lots and outdoor areas on the premises.
- All Hospital positions maybe subject to changes in pass days and shifts as necessary.
- This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection, which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair.
- This function/position maybe designated as “essential.” This means that when the Hospital is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in such positions may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at Stony Brook Medicine, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital and related facilities.
