DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contract Review: Review contract documents, drawings, specifications, and other project documents to accurately interpret the structural requirements and components for the project.
- Prepare Shop Drawings: Utilize design software to create detailed shop drawings, assembly drawings, ensuring accurate representations of steel components and connections.
- Material Takeoffs: Perform precise material takeoffs to determine the quantity and type of steel required for fabrication, considering factors such as weight, dimensions, and specifications.
- Collaboration to resolve discrepancies, conflicts, or modifications to design requirements during the detailing process.
- Compliance with Codes and Standards: Ensure that all shop drawings comply with relevant state highway codes, industry standards
- Quality Control: Conduct thorough reviews and checks on completed drawings to maintain high-quality standards and accuracy before submission for approval.
- Coordination with In-house Fabricators: Collaborate closely with fabrication teams to communicate design specifications, provide clarifications, and address any on-site issues.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Note this is a full time in person position.
- Minimum 3-4 years of experience in structural detailing.
- Proficient knowledge and understanding of SolidWorks and AutoCAD software and Microsoft Office
- Sound understanding of structural engineering principles, steel fabrication processes, welding techniques, and construction practices.
- Familiarity with AISC Code of Standard Practice and AWS.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy while handling complex design projects.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to meet project deadlines and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve issues during the detailing process to maintain project progress.
- Expertise in structural steel detailing and familiarity with industry codes and practices.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and related design software.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with team members, fabricators, and other stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities to resolve design conflicts and ensure project progression.
- Ability to manage time effectively while handling multiple tasks and deadlines.
