Cloud Administrator
Position Summary
The incumbent’s primary function is to design, support and help secure the organization’s Microsoft 365 (M365) tenant. This position will contribute to the efforts of safeguarding the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the enterprise data across the M365 tenant. The incumbent will work on configuring sharing and access policies for SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams. They will work closely with the Information Security team to establish data sharing policies and assist with the implementation of DLP/Purview. They will work closely with the tenant administrator to help provide support for all technical functions inclusive of exchange and tenant administration. The incumbent will work closely with the Systems Engineering team to review on-premises storage and provide recommendations on transitioning the share data to M365 and Azure.
Duties of a Cloud Administrator may include the following but are not limited to:
- Leading and supporting migration efforts from network file shares to Teams, SharePoint Online and OneDrive.
- Configuring and managing permissions, including inheritance and external sharing options, to balance accessibility with data protection for Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive.
- Work with InfoSec to implement and manage retention and sensitivity labels for data classification, protection and implementation of DLP/Purview.
- Providing user training and maintaining support resources to promote SharePoint best practices and enhance user experience.
- Function as the administrator for all SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams related workflows.
- Assisting in the management of Microsoft 365 Tenant and related applications including but not limited to Exchange.
- Installation of Teams applications within Microsoft 365.
- Monitor system performance, generate usage reports, and provide insights to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Microsoft 365 services.
- Communicate with various stakeholders to coordinate and manage the implementation of new applications, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timelines.
- Perform annual reviews via Microsoft Security workshops to ensure hardening and best practices are being implemented for all aspects of Microsoft 365.
- Tracking of M365 Product Feature Addition/Change/Deprecation Timelines
- Review new products and functionality of M365 and make recommendations to senior IT leadership.
- Review and provide support for emerging AI technologies within M365.
- Work with Authentication Services team on implementing Guest access policies and reviews.
- Active participation in 365 governance committee to review and implement best practices, policies and new application deployments.
- Assist in licensing management and utilization reports to help with cost reductions.
- Ensure all critical data is backed up and create clearly defined recovery plans with regular testing.
- Automation of tasks and jobs within M365 via Powershell scripting.
- Implementation and management of conditional access policies.
- Maintain an expert level of knowledge of infrastructure expertise by attending seminars, technical training, or through other related activities.
- Must participate in afterhours On-Call support for core technologies supported by Systems Operations
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum 4 years of related network infrastructure experience.
- In lieu of a Bachelor’s, an Associate’s Degree with a combination of relevant experience with infrastructure and Microsoft theories totaling 8 years.
- Experience with implementing and managing M365 product suite.
- Experience administering and supporting SharePoint.
- Experience administering and supporting E-Mail infrastructure.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent analytical skills are essential for this job.
- The candidate must be detail oriented and have strong organizational skills. Excellent communication skills are essential.
Preferred:
- 2 years experience utilizing PowerShell.
- Experience with formation of 365 governance committee and classification of sensitive data
- Experience with PowerShell scripting/automation.

- Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.
- Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Anticipated Pay Range:
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $87872 - $118262 / year.
The above salary range represents SBUH’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate’s validated years of comparable experience. Any efforts to inflate or misrepresent experience are grounds for disqualification from the application process or termination of employment if hired.
Some positions offer annual supplemental pay such as:
- Location pay for UUP, CSEA & PEF full-time positions ($3400)
