Associate’s Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Phlebotomy certified. Experience performing spirometry and EKGs.

The Stony Brook WTC Health Program offers comprehensive, integrative healthcare of 9/11-related illnesses for WTC disaster responders. Integral to our mission of patient-centered care is an enduring support community, advocacy for our 9/11 responders, and cutting-edge research efforts. The successful Medical Assistant will have excellent customer service skills and will treat every patient with care and compassion. This position requires a responsible individual who can commit to being at work on time and who has excellent attendance, as well as an individual with patience who can handle assisting Providers in a busy clinic. Must consider opportunities to develop job knowledge and skills by participating in training and educational opportunities as suggested by supervision.

Duties
- Perform phlebotomy, spirometry and EKGs.
- Perform and record blood pressure, weight and temperature.
- Manage smooth flow of patients from check-in to exam room to check-out.
- Document patient notes accurately in charts as required. Document medications, patient history and vital signs in EMR. Access Computer programs to obtain results, as necessary.
- Assist RN, LPNs and clerical staff with front and back office activities such as: respond to patient phone calls, chart paperwork, etc.
- Provide patient education services as needed. Counsel patients by transmitting physician's orders and questions about the WTC program.
- Maintain a clean and healthy environment in the exam rooms of the ambulatory care space.
- Other duties as assigned.

- The incumbent must be willing to work and travel between the Westbury and Commack clinic locations. Occasional Evenings and Saturdays will be required.
