Required Qualifications (as Evidenced By An Attached Resume)
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Biology, Pharmacy, or a related field. Experience with computer software (i.e. Microsoft Office, Excel, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
Research activity experience. Experience in operating equipment, carrying out test procedures and using special methods for data collection and interpretation. Experience with organic, analytical chemistry and/or biochemistry. Experience with High-pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC). Experience with gas chromatography (GC). Experience with thin layer chromatography (TLC), SPE methods. Experience with gamma counting and multichannel analyzers (MCA). Experience with handling radioactivity and/or fundamental understanding of ionizing radiation.

The Cyclotron Operator will assist in the cGMP production of radiopharmaceuticals for clinical research at SBU and other work related to PET clinical imaging studies. The incumbent must possess the ability to:

Brief Description Of Duties
The Cyclotron Operator will assist in the cGMP production of radiopharmaceuticals for clinical research at SBU and other work related to PET clinical imaging studies. The incumbent must possess the ability to:
- Work under pressure and within tight deadlines, as well as good written and oral communication skills.
- Follow Standard Operating Protocols (SOPs) to operate cyclotron and affiliated instruments to supply activity for radiotracer production.
- Perform routine maintenance of laboratories (check supplies, temperature, moisture, air venting system, ACS system, etc.) to ensure the radiochemistry work operated under the safe manner.
- Follow SOPs to assist the regular production of clinical human use radiopharmaceuticals.
- Perform in vitro radiopharmaceutical validation, and ex vivo radiometabolite analysis.
- Assist in the design and implementation of a Quality Management System.
- Perform general laboratory housekeeping, reports and stocking supplies.
- Other duties as assigned.
