Postdoc/Research Scientist/Sr. Research Scientist Positions in Reinforcement Learning and Medical Imaging at Stony Brook University
The Autonomous MR Imaging Systems (AMRIS) Laboratory at Stony Brook University is seeking highly talented and motivated candidates interested in reinforcement learning and optimal control, with a focus on their applications to next-generation MRI systems. Successful candidates will join the AMRIS Lab which places a strong emphasis on algorithmic advances and their clinical adoption. These positions are funded by the Department of Radiology through the PI’s startup funds and are entirely dedicated to research.
Required Qualifications
1. PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computational Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field.
2. Hands-on experience in training deep reinforcement learning agents
3. Proficiency in Python, C/C , and Unix-like operating systems.
4. Peer-reviewed publications as a first author.
5. Background in MRI physics is a plus (but not required).

The role offers the opportunity to mentor graduate students and develop your independent research project aimed at K99/R00 or equivalent NSF grant applications to support future career development. Access to high-performance computing systems (including 8-way NVIDIA H100 GPUs) and MRI systems (Siemens/GE) across the campus are provided.
