Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Four (4) years of full time progressively responsible experience with educational development. Experience working with diverse populations in educational settings or community-based organizations. Program management experience. Presentation experience. Experience working with grade school students (elementary or middle school). Bilingual (Spanish/English).

Advanced degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Additional years (5 ) of full time progressively responsible experience with educational development. Budget experience. Counseling experience. Grant writing experience. Fundraising experience.
Brief Description of Duties:
Reporting to the Vice President for Equity & Inclusion, Chief Health Equity Officer, & Chief Diversity Officer this position will have primary responsibility for managing a highly visible future scholars program for the university. This initiative promises academically promising and low-income students’ free tuition if accepted then provides appropriate support for the undergraduate Scholars. The program is a unique pipeline (middle school through college graduation) being only one of a few similar initiatives across the United States. The Program Manager functions as a seasoned professional with strong skills in planning, organizing, information integration, decision-making, and attaining results. This position is responsible for the fundraising effort of the organization and executes the resource development strategy of the organization, appealing to individuals and businesses throughout the community for funds. The incumbent will collaborate with program partners to identify and recruit program participants. The expectation is that the Program Manager will deploy a wide range of strategies and programmatic initiatives to prepare students for, interest in, enrollment at, and a successful transition to an institution of higher education. This includes developing innovative approaches to student retention and academic support; building on best practices and current research; and developing and implementing new instructional initiatives. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for this role.
- Manage the Future Scholars program for the University in partnership with school districts. Maintain relationships with Stony Brook University Alumni. Provide guidance and direction to include faculty, senior administrators, managers, and researchers. Communicate regularly with campus leadership and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with program partners to identify and recruit program participants. Responsible for deploying a wide range of strategies and programmatic initiatives to prepare students, and foster interest in, enrollment at, and a successful transition to the University. This initiative promises academically promising and low-income students free tuition if accepted to the University then provides appropriate support for undergraduate Scholars. Develop innovative approaches to student retention and academic support; build on best practices and current research; Research and plan curriculum and program criteria. Deploy a wide range of strategies to create, organize, develop curriculum, and implement state-wide summer and academic year experiences for Scholars at Stony Brook University.
- Serve as the voice and face of the organization and represent Stony Brook University at community meetings, outreach events, national conferences, radio/TV shows, print media, school districts, community organizations, university staff, state legislators, and private and corporation foundations. Develop communications, marketing, and recruitment plans. Write and present yearly reports, statistical analyses, and research articles for publication in the program's development state and nationwide.
- Leads grant writing, assures a presence in SBU annual campaign, fundraising public relations and advertising, takes initiative to build relationships with potential funders including individual community and corporate donors. Generate new ideas and opportunities to increase fundraising and fund development to meet and exceed revenue goals. Establish an ongoing fundraising program to support the work of SBU into the future.
- Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,400 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.

Salary : $82,000 - $106,000
