Description

Stony Brook University, the premier academic medical center in Suffolk County, New York, seeks a dedicated and skilled clinician to join our Emergency Department (ED) and our Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP). As the only psychiatric emergency program in Suffolk County, our ED/CPEP offers state-of-the-art care to individuals experiencing acute psychiatric distress. The Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor will work as an Attending Psychiatrist, responsible for the psychiatric evaluation and management of patients presenting to the Emergency Department (ED) and CPEP at Stony Brook University Hospital.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of responsibilities, including:

  • Evaluate, diagnose, plan for appropriate clinical management and disposition of all the patients referred for psychiatric intervention.
  • Obtain collateral history from families and professional providers for accuracy.
  • Perform consultation which must be done within a timely manner.
  • Communicate results of evaluations, treatments and recommendations to primary medical team through verbal communication and documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Complete Proper Consultation Documentation.
  • Teach and supervise medical students and residents, contribute to the academic growth and development of future healthcare professionals.

Schedule/Salary:

This is a full-time position consisting of shifts totaling 40 hours per week. You will also provide cross-coverage as necessary. Eligibility for a quarterly production incentive bonus is available. Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
MD/DO (or foreign equivalent). New York State MD license (or eligibility). B.E./B.C. in Adult Psychiatry.

Preferred Qualifications:
Clinical Experience in Emergency Psychiatry. Clinical Experience in Psychiatry Consultation & Liaison Service. Previous leadership activity experience. Previous experience teaching and supervising of medical students and residents.
