The position will be full-time, faculty, academic at the Clinical Instructor level.Required Qualifications : Master's degree in Nursing or completion of a course for Nurse Practitioner; NYS NP license and certification as a Pediatric or Family Nurse Practitioner. At least one year of clinical experience working in Pediatrics is required. Must have excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to carry out assignments independently also required.Responsibilities & Requirements : The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner will provide direct care to patients in the Division of Pediatric Hematology / Oncology at Stony Brook Children's Hospital and at the Stony Brook Cancer Center in collaboration with an Attending Physician. Other responsibilities include : providing education to staff nurses; conferring with patient(s) to obtain accurate information for records, explaining procedures, alleviating fears and eliciting cooperation and engagement in the plan of care; ensuring execution of provider established plan of care including but not limited to follow up visits, specialist consultations, diagnostic lab, imaging studies and / or procedures; contributing to patient care through patient and family education, population health management, encouraging patient self-management, distributing resource literature and community service recommendations and referrals as needed; maintaining liaison with physicians and practice administration to ensure efficient and effective patient care services.Qualifications Required Qualifications : New York State licensure as a Nurse Practitioner. Master's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Nursing. Completion of a course for a Nurse Practitioner and certification as a Pediatric or Family Practice Nurse Practitioner. Minimum of one year of clinical experience working in Pediatrics.Preferred Qualifications : Five or more years of clinical experience working in Pediatrics.
