What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corporate Accounting Manager position at Storage Asset Management?
Summary: The Corporate Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue accounting and general ledger.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Responsible to implement and maintain a system of internal controls and ensure all financial reporting is completed accurately and on a timely basis.
• Supervise and/or manage general ledger accounting functions.
• Assess current practices and procedures and identify, develop, and drive process improvement projects to achieve reduction in costs, improvements in quality, and faster cycle times.
• Maintain books and reconciliation of accounts, including oversight of essential activities that include billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and the company credit card and travel programs.
• Ensure SAM follows US GAAP.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports in accordance with GAAP, including balance sheets, income statements, and statement of cash flows as well as other analyses as needed.
• Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships to meet the strategic objectives of SAM.
• Supervision and development of the corporate accounting team by providing staff the proper resources, training, and authority required to fulfill their responsibilities. Develop each person's talents and skills to their full potential to enhance their contribution to the success of the business we serve.
• Prepares budget for Corporate Accounting department. Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
• Plan and coordinate the year end process, including the 1099 processing, coordination with external accountants on taxes and issuing timely GAAP financial statements.
• Coordinate accounting processes and requirements with Property Accounting team to ensure timely billing and recording of expenses.
• Manage relationships with vendors used by the Corporate Accounting team, including bankers, software support providers, and tax registration companies.
• This position is hybrid remote. In office scheduling requirements are determined by your supervisor and are subject to change at any time according to business needs.
• Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.
• Additional duties as directed.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or MBA preferred.
• Minimum of 5-7 years accounting experience with a minimum of 3 years supervisory experience.
• Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with other financial systems.
• Growth mindset, positive attitude and previous experience in Storage Facility Management a plus!
Language Skills: Must be fluent in speaking and writing the English language.
Work Hours: In a typical week, this position requires a minimum of 40 hours with regular and predictable attendance.
