Reporting to the Assistant Property Controller, the Property Accountant has oversight and responsibility of the financials for their assigned real estate assets. This responsibility ranges from posting weekly journal entries to performing monthly income statement analysis. By owning a structured set of duties for entire portfolios of real estate assets, you will be exposed to all corners of the financials and have the opportunity for professional growth.
This position is based at the company’s Atlanta, GA (Buckhead) newly renovated suite in Buckhead Plaza. Our office is walking distance to numerous restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery stores, and directly across the street from Buckhead Village Shopping Plaza.
You will:
- Take full responsibility of the general ledger for a portfolio of assets.
- Post journal entries, including but not limited to, prepaids, accruals, utility payments, and cash receipts.
- Perform month-end income statement analytics, comparing to budgets and prior periods.
- Meet with internal property field teams to discuss financial performance.
- Create and publish financial reports for internal operations, equity partners, and lenders.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly, including but not limited to, cash, prepaids, and accruals.
- Code and approve vendor invoices related to your portfolio of assets.
- Perform ad-hoc financial research for internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor and measure portfolio financial performance using key performance indicators (KPI’s).
- Partner with our Operations Teams to create annual budgets or update mid-year forecasts.
- Assist with special accounting projects.

Qualifications
You have:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, required.
- 5 years of accounting experience, required.
- Intermediate spreadsheet and modeling skills, i.e. sort, filter, v-lookup, required.
- Experience with multi-entity accounting, preferred.
- Real estate and/or REIT experience, preferred.
- MRI software experience, or multi-entity software experience, preferred.
- Nexus AP software experience, or similar AP software experience, preferred.
Salary : $80,000 - $85,000
