The Workplace Consultant is responsible for meeting / exceeding Workspace furniture sales and gross profit goals by calling on and identifying sales opportunities with existing and/or qualified clients over the phone or in person, assessing clients’ needs and providing solutions; manages customer projects collaborating with the Design, Sales Services and Furniture Operations teams, ensuring all aspects of projects are satisfactorily met and a positive customer experience is delivered; works closely with clients facilitating their requests and resolving issues; maintains ongoing professional relationships and communications with client accounts.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Actively works to increase sales from existing customers and develops new business from qualified prospects in the furniture market to ensure the achievement of growth and profitability goals. Maintains all client / prospective client sales activities in the funnel system and updates during each phase of the sales process.
- Continually reaches out and contacts existing or recently acquired clients in person, over the phone or via email to maintain / establish relationships and generate ongoing sales. Assesses client needs; provides professional solutions and develops / conducts sales presentations and/or product demonstrations to clients; prepares and presents proposals to clients. Answers questions, working closely with client to close sale.
- Promptly responds and attends to client requests triggering sales and sales projects. Acts as project manager on client projects, coordinating and managing all aspects of the client project working with and through Interior Design, Sales Services and the Operations teams to ensure all client needs / expectations of the project are satisfactorily met or exceeded. Answers questions, troubleshoots and resolves issues and continuously communicates pertinent information including additions and changes throughout project, working closely with client and internal teams. Ensures timelines are met and the customers experience is positive.
- Creates high quality quotes, bids and proposals, accurately specifying products; collaborates with other areas on the Workspace team to complete including but not limited to Leadership, Designers and Operations to ensure customer needs are appropriately addressed; presents proposals to clients. Appropriately follows-up and follows-through with prospective clients, promptly responds to inquiries to successfully close deal.
- Effectively leverages sales promotions / incentives and sample literature to maximize sales.
- Provides regular progress updates / reports to leadership including forecast and pipeline reports along with other information as requested.
- Maintains client accounts records.
- Stays abreast of industry trends and marketplace competition along with furniture product changes and innovations; leverages data to strategize client communications and presentations for optimizing sales success.
- Attends sales training on products and sales skills development.
- Attends team meetings regarding sales updates, status and progress of sales goals, strategic initiatives, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Educational / Experience Requirements
Associates degree in business or related field with a minimum of two years’ sales experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; Bachelor’s degree preferred; office products / furniture sales experience and/or industry knowledge preferred; must have valid driver’s license.
