Position Summary
The Material Handling and Inventory Control Specialist is primarily responsible for receipt of raw materials, movement of fabricated products, and overall organization and appearance of raw materials and work-in-process inventory throughout the facility. The Material Handling and Inventory Control Specialist serves in a role that is of primary service to ensuring efficiency and product flow in and between the Fabrication and Assembly departments. The individual serving in this role should take extreme pride in providing premier service to his or her peers in the Fabrication and Assembly Departments.

Key Responsibilities
Teamwork and Communication:
- Regular consultation with Production Leads in Fabrication to ensure that materials are appropriately staged for cutting, bending, and assembly.
- Coordinating with the CNC Operators, Welders, CNC Operator, and Production Operators to ensure efficient flow of both raw and fabricated materials throughout the facility.
- Coordinating with the Purchasing Planner, Class A driver, and/or Operations Manager to facilitate product movement between outsource vendors, secondary operations, and intra company site transfers.
Inventory Control:
- Primary accountability for organization and appearance of metal raw materials and work-in-process metal inventory in the Le Center facility.
- Receive, inspect, and document incoming materials and supplies.
- Compares identifying information and counts, weights, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading.
- Assists in removing cut and bent parts from laser and brake stations, disposes of remaining sheet waste, and moves partial sheets into designated storage areas.
Material Handling:
- Safely operates forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
- Safely transport materials to and from production areas, storage locations, and shipping areas.
Safety Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
- Uses caution when transporting parts to avoid breakage, damage, scratches, etc.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in material handling, inventory control, or a related field.
- Expertise in operating material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Attention to detail, discipline in process adherence, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in primary service of your peers.
- Pass forklift certification.
Physical Demands
The employee is regularly required to stand or walk for extended periods of time. Lift up to 50 pounds, occasionally maneuver through pushing or pulling greater than 50 pounds. Regular reaching overhead and at or below should level, with gross and fine manipulation with hands and fingers. Specific vision abilities include near, far, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
