The Application Engineering Manager is responsible for driving Business Development and New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts for North America. This role requires strong technical expertise, customer relationship management, and strategic planning to support sales growth and optimize new product integration across the organization.

Some of the Responsibilities of the Application Engineering Manager include:

Business Development & Customer Growth:

• Identify and acquire new customers while expanding sales with existing customers.
• Work closely with Plant Managers and QA Leaders to support NPI and Business Development efforts, including technical support, programming, tooling, quality procedures, and training.
• Provide direct customer support to ensure successful and timely NPI outcomes.
• Collaborate with the Director of Business Development and Plant Managers to develop and maintain a pricing strategy that maximizes gross margin contribution.
• Travel as needed to expand the surface technologies business.
• Engage with the sales team and other sources to generate and develop new leads.
• Maintain timely and effective communication with customers.

Marketing & Promotion:

• Participate in advertising and trade show activities to promote business growth.
• Represent the company at supplier symposiums as requested by the Director of Business Development.
• Utilize digital sales tools to support business expansion.
• Manage and maintain print resources, brochures, and other promotional materials.

Reporting & Strategic Planning:

• Maintain accurate records and generate reports to track performance and market activity.
• Participate in conference calls to discuss potential projects and sales initiatives.
• Collect and analyze data to assess budget impacts and forecast sales trends.

Operational & Capital Investment Support:

• Meet with Plant Managers to identify new growth opportunities.
• Assist in capital expenditure planning related to overall sales growth.

Some of the Requirements/Qualifications of the Application Engineering Manager include:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field from a four-year accredited institution.
• 5-7 years of relevant experience in application engineering, business development, or a related technical sales role.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Skills & Abilities:

• Strong technical acumen in surface technologies and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Excellent problem-solving, project management, and strategic planning skills.
• Effective communication and presentation abilities.
• Proficiency in digital sales tools, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to travel as needed for business development activities.
