Transformer Test Technician

Job Overview
Seeking a qualified Transformer Test Technician to perform a variety of electrical testing and maintenance tasks in accordance with IEEE and ANSI standards. This role requires technical expertise in transformer testing, equipment calibration, and preventive maintenance while providing leadership to novice and specialist technicians.
Responsibilities
- Perform electrical testing, including:
- Insulation Resistance
- Winding Resistance
- Turns Ratio
- Energization at full voltage
- No-load loss tests
- Full-load loss tests
- Impedance measurements
- Polarity checks
- HiPot tests
- Induced voltage tests
- Sweep Frequency Response Analysis (SFRA)
- Analyze test data and provide recommendations.
- Oversee calibration of test department equipment and coordinate with external vendors for calibration.
- Perform preventive maintenance on all test equipment.
- Supervise and provide guidance to technicians across all shifts.
- Operate overhead cranes to move transformers in and out of the test area.
Requirements
- Previous transformer testing experience required.
- High School Diploma or GED (Technical College preferred).
- Experience in electronics is a plus.
- Proficiency in Windows operating systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a cooperative attitude toward team members and customers.
- Professional demeanor, communication, and conduct.
- Willingness to learn and assist in other areas as needed.
