Position Overview
My client is looking for an experienced Perception/Robotics Software Engineer to join their engineering team focused on autonomous rail vehicle development. This role will be instrumental in advancing self-propelled autonomous capabilities through sensor integration, processing, and intelligent response systems.
Core Responsibilities
- Partner with stakeholders to establish and document autonomous system requirements
- Create and implement perception systems enabling vehicle autonomy
- Conduct rigorous testing to validate system performance against operational standards
- Provide ongoing support for deployed systems throughout their lifecycle
- Research emerging technologies and recommend strategic investments
Team Environment
- Collaborate within agile teams of varying sizes (typically 3-10 members)
- Navigate evolving project priorities and requirements
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Some travel required for data collection, system integration, and client demonstrations
Candidate Requirements
Must Have:
- BS/BA in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
- 5 years of experience developing software systems with focus on robotics, sensing, or automation
- Strong foundation in robotics principles and software development best practices
- Proficiency in C and Python programming languages
- Collaborative mindset and effective communication skills
- Fluent English (written and verbal)
- Must be authorized to work in the US (they do not provide sponsorship)
Technical Experience (minimum 3 years with at least two):
- Multi-sensor fusion (camera, radar, lidar) for 3D object tracking
- Localization and object tracking systems
- Detection/classification algorithm development (traditional or ML-based)
- Image processing pipeline implementation
- Optimization of processing systems for embedded hardware
- Performance metrics design and large-scale testing
- Sensor driver development and data pipeline optimization
Preferred Qualifications:
- End-to-end perception system development for autonomous applications
- Experience delivering customer-facing autonomy solutions
- Expertise with TensorRT and ONNX model deployment
- Published technical papers or patents
- Experience in relevant industries such as autonomous transportation or unmanned systems
Salary : $150,000 - $220,000
