Summary Description
This position provides administrative support for General Assistance Program and Veterans Affairs operations and performs related administrative, secretarial, and customer service duties.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Answers telephones, responds to email, and greets office visitors; provides information and assistance; refers to appropriate staff.
- Provides administrative support to the General Assistance Service Coordinators for the client intake process.
- Prepares claims and processes invoices.
- Prepares month-end reports.
- Processes incoming and outgoing mail and packages.
- Maintains office supply inventory; reorders as needs.
- Maintains department calendars.
- Provides support for the Veterans Affairs office; maintains and updates database; processes military grave records; assists with mailings and special projects.
- Updates the department website; adds items to the Board of Supervisors agenda; posts Veterans Affairs agendas, meeting minutes, documents, and photographs.
- Inputs data and documentation into computer database.
- Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
