What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cook - Full-Time position at STORY COUNTY MEDICAL CENTER?

As a Cook you will:
- Incorporate basic food preparation skills utilizing standardized quantified recipes to assure retention of nutritive values, palatability, and appetizing appearance of food served to clients.
- Review menus and production sheets to determine type and quantities of assigned items to be prepared and plans cooking so food is ready at designate time.
- Portion foods attractively and accurately as specified in recipe and/or menu.
- Maintain work area in a neat, clean, and orderly manner in accordance with departmental standards.
- Assist in the distribution and set-up of patient/resident trays as assigned.
- Assist in preparation and set-up of catering events.
- Confer with Department Leader or designee and/or Dietitian regarding modified diet preparation to ensure accuracy in patient diet prescription.
- Operate dish machine following established policy and procedures.
- Consistently follow safe food guidelines through appropriate hand hygiene, food labeling, and other safe food practices.
- Clean the kitchen according to duties assigned on cleaning schedule using correct cleaning and sanitizing procedures in Policy and Procedure Manual or instructions.
- Maintain high safety standards while operating all equipment according to proper procedures in Policy and Procedure Manual or instructions.
- Maintain effective working relationships with other dietary and facility employees to promote customer satisfaction.
- Maintain and promote professionalism within the department, Story Medical, and the community.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient, resident, and personnel information.

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- ServSafe Certification (within 90 days of hire)

Schedule: Flexible scheduling with operating times 5:30am-7:00pm; Every other weekend
Salary Range: $17.00-$25.50
