What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1st Shift Yard Driver position at Stoughton Trailers, LLC?
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Operate yard truck, stake truck, forklift, container lift, front end loader, dump trucks and all types of snowplows.
Responsible for placing units in correct location in the yard and buildings, including crowded areas and areas where others are working. Move units in and out of the plant. Maneuver units in tight areas, the majority of the time in reverse. Assist security in locating and accessing released units to staging area.
Accurately document all unit moves and turn in documentation at the end of the shift or in a timely manner as directed.
Perform daily checks on equipment, including fluid levels, and complete required checklists.
Communicate problems to manager, production or security as needed.
Perform all assigned tasks in a safe, efficient, timely, accurate and highly productive manner according to company policy.
Contribute to the team effort to produce a quality product.
Attend scheduled work hours on a regular and timely basis. Maintain good attendance.
Ability to work mandatory overtime.
Ensure the safety of others in the vicinity of moving vehicles.
Safely secure freight moving to and from plants (e.g. strapping, chaining, tarping, etc.)
Other Duties May Be Assigned By The Company.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent, based on education and work experience.
Licenses/Certifications
Must have valid driver’s license
Ability to obtain CDL- Commercial Driver License
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
1-3 months related experience and/or training.
May require Wisconsin Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) if transporting vehicles on public roads and highways or operating vehicles over 26,000 pounds (GVW).
Requires knowledge of Stoughton Trailer’s products in order to know on which chassis to place units.
Knowledge and skills pertaining to CDL and classifications of the CDL, which may include Hazardous Material training.
