The Stow Company is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Manufacturing Supervisor located in Holland, MI. We are the country’s premier source for custom closets and organizational solutions; designed custom-cut, and shipped to our clients from our world class manufacturing facility in Holland, MI.
Primary Purpose of Position:
The purpose of the Manufacturing Supervisor position is to:
- Train and develop your direct reports
- Ensure standards are being followed
- Improve the work that is being done
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Ensure all team members are trained to perform job tasks safely and correctly
- Enforce a safe work environment in coordination with Stow’s 5S standards
- Communicate company news and issues to hourly team members
- Motivate team members to meet all process targets and quality expectations
- Enforce disciplinary actions to hold team members accountable to company policy and procedures
- Manage department scheduling and labor efficiency
- Manage department performance reviews and encourage individual growth and development
- Drive efficiency, work standards, processes and procedures
- Coordinate with process engineers to maintain accurate documentation of work standards and training
- Lead daily and long-term continuous improvement initiatives

Basic Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred, ideally in Engineering, Logistics, or Business
- 3 years of experience in a leadership role within a manufacturing facility
- Previous experience in Lean manufacturing
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrated leadership and team building abilities
- Demonstrated ability to motivate people
- Ability to effectively teach and train others; assess and develop team member skills
- Strong ability to be adaptable and flexible
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to think innovatively
- Proficiency with computer systems; including MS Office Suite, ERP systems, web-based programs, etc.
- Ability to work collaboratively with groups and lead decision-making processes in a team environment
- Interpersonal skills in order to work effectively with individuals both internally and externally to The Stow Company
- Must have excellent customer service skills; including strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must have the ability to interface with all levels of personnel in an office and a manufacturing environment
- Ability to take the initiative and work well independently with little supervision, and as part of a team
Physical Qualifications:
- Ability to assist with lifting or moving product while working with the teams
- Ability to spend large amounts of time on the plant floor
- Must be able to travel between plant and office locations
- Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice
- Typical office environment with shelves overhead and above work surfaces
- Manufacturing environment with multiple machinery and moving parts
The Stow Company may temporarily assign any team member with duties outside of their normal responsibilities. Such assignments may be warranted due to a variety of specific requirements, conditions and/or the capabilities of available personnel. Management will determine the nature and duration of those assignments.
