Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to helping individuals overcome addiction and achieve long-term recovery. This role involves providing support, guidance, and therapeutic interventions to clients struggling with substance use disorders. The Substance Abuse Counselor will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to develop personalized treatment plans and facilitate group therapy sessions.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients to determine their needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Provide one-on-one counseling sessions focusing on addiction counseling, behavioral therapy, and crisis intervention.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions utilizing techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing.
- Implement case management strategies to monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Assist clients in developing coping strategies and behavior management skills to support their recovery journey.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including social workers and clinical counselors, to ensure holistic care for clients.
- Provide education on substance abuse issues to clients and their families, promoting understanding of the recovery process.
Experience
- A degree in psychology, social work, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in addiction counseling or substance abuse treatment is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with case management practices and behavioral therapy techniques is essential.
- Proficiency in crisis intervention strategies and group therapy facilitation is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of community resources available for individuals struggling with addiction.

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
