Loss Prevention Specialist

The Loss Prevention Specialist is responsible for safeguarding the assets of the retail store by preventing theft, minimizing losses, and maintaining a secure shopping environment for customers and employees. You will conduct surveillance, apprehend and/or exclude shoplifters, investigate incidents and collaborate with store managers to implement security measures.

Essential Functions:

• Conduct undercover surveillance to detect and prevent theft, fraud, vandalism, or other criminal activities within the retail premises

• Monitor in-store activities using cameras, observation and other techniques to identify suspicious behavior and potential security threats

• Engage in covert operations to address and/or exclude shoplifters, fraudsters, or other individuals involved in undesirable activities

• Work closely with store management and other security personnel to investigate incidents of theft or misconduct and gather evidence to build case files

• Maintain accurate records of security incidents, exclusions, and other relevant documentation. Prepare detailed reports for management review and legal purposes as required

• Provide assistance and support to customers and employees regarding security concerns, lost items or other inquiries. Maintain a professional and approachable demeanor when enforcing store policies

• Conduct thorough investigations into incidents of theft, fraud or misconduct within the store. Gather evidence, interview witnesses, and collaborate with law enforcement when necessary

• Participate in training sessions and awareness programs to educate store staff on security procedures, theft prevention techniques, and safety protocols

• Stay informed about current trends and developments in retail crime and security practices to continuously improve loss prevention efforts

• Other duties, as necessary

Qualifications:

• Extensive experience in loss prevention, security or a related field

• Strong observation skills and attention to detail

• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

• Ability to remain calm and assertive in stressful situations

• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing theft and security

• Proficiency in using surveillance equipment and security systems

• Discretions and integrity when handling sensitive information or interacting with suspects or law enforcement

• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

Physical Requirements: The candidate must be physically fit and capable of performing the essential functions of the job which will include:

• Standing and walking for extended periods
• Bending, stooping, and kneeling
• Lifting and carrying heavy objects up to 50lbs and more
• Excellent physical agility to respond quickly to incidents
