FIRE PROTECTION TECHNICIAN I

POSITION OVERVIEW 

The Fire Protection Technician is responsible for meeting the customer’s needs and
helping them to stay in compliance with regards to their fire protection systems. This may include shop or field-based work depending on qualifications. Specifically, the technician is responsible for: 

· Servicing of fire equipment in the shop or field. 

· Conducting visual inspections and system functional tests. 

· Completes all necessary documentation. 

· Ensures all equipment is ready for use at all times. 

· Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition. 

· Will learn basic safety work and equipment as appropriate. 

QUALIFICATIONS  

· Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Associates Degree or higher preferred. 

· Must be able to pass a Texas State Fire Marshall License B. 

· Valid driver's license from state of residence and valid proof of vehicle insurance. 

· Must possess good driving record with no more than 3 violations in 3 years, no DWI’s within 5 years 
 and be insurable for Safety Solutions vehicle insurance while driving company truck.  

· Related field experience 

· Must be able to travel to customer sites. 

· Undergo training for and participate in inspection and installation of fire systems. 

· Ability to correctly wear all forms of breathing apparatuses, including facial masks requiring airtight 
 seals. 

· Knowledge of all related regulatory standards. 

· Ability to test and maintain equipment per manufacturer’s specifications. 

· Ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process and safety instructions). 

· Experience working around heavy equipment is preferred. 

· Must understand and follow all safety policies and apply good safety practices while working. 

· Must become proficient in the care and use of all site specific, facility required Personal Protection 
 Equipment. 

· Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new 
 responsibilities readily. 

W0RK ENVIRONMENT  

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme outdoor weather conditions. The job activities will require the employee to work in a shop/warehouse environment and/or at customer job site
locations 90 to 100 percent of the time. On an as needed basis, the employee may be assigned to support field services on a drilling rig. The employee will be required to be able to drive. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS  

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to lift/carry 75 lbs. frequently
floor to knuckle and floor to shoulder and climb stairs frequently carrying 40 lbs. The employee is required to stand, walk, stoop, or kneel to perform the essential job functions.  

Flexibility in work schedule is also required for possible overtime, work on holidays, weekends and
extended hours with minimal notice and as required by operational need.
