What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Foreman - South Carolina position at Strata Solar LLC?
The Mechanical Foreman is responsible for providing coordination, planning, and supervision to forepersons, contractors, and craft activities on a utility scale solar site. This position is for all solar projects in the United States and must be willing to travel extensively. The Mechanical Foreman position will manage assigned projects, including overseeing field and mechanical operations, general safety, productivity, schedule, quality work, coordination with other Foremen and project leaders on the jobsite. This position reports to the Mechanical Superintendent.

- Plan and direct the work activities of mechanical activities on job sites. Work with Mechanical Superintendent in development of project schedules and updates, and look-ahead activities.
- Directs personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to original plans and specifications.
- Coordination of personnel, material, and equipment needed to meet schedules. Ensure work teams have needed resources and support. Supervise and ensure quality control of work team, including self-performed and subcontracted work.
- Manage the interface with appropriate personnel concerned with the mechanical transmission systems.
- Support project and construction management with planning and utilization of proper means and methods for mechanical (rather than electrical) activities.
- Analyze situations, identify and forecast pertinent problems and evaluate realistic options; and recommend/implement appropriate course of action.
- Adhere to and support the company’s Health, Safety & Environmental Policies.
- Identify welding certification, training and experience appropriate for assignment scope, and work with engineering, construction and many other departments present at Solar sites.
- Ability to communicate effectively and train employees.
- Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines to ensure compliance.
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
- Typically serve as lead person to coordinate process piping/mechanical activities within their assigned scope and in an active construction work site.
- Coordinate and implement activities and any other resource necessary to assure a safe and quality execution.
- Generally responsible to assure all work undertaken is within approved scope boundaries and is in full compliance.
- Proven ability promoting outstanding customer service and client relations
- Excellent computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets and electronic presentation programs
- May have to interact with Owner’s Field Representative and outside testing agencies and be able to work and communicate well with them.
- Supervise staff and perform evaluations and corrective action when necessary.
- Minimum 2 years of Mechanical Foreman/supervisory experience
- Proficiency in all areas of Foreman work, where mechanical expertise is required.
- Knowledgeable about current mechanical methods, equipment, assembly and use of equipment used on sites. Possess working knowledge of drawings, sketches, and prints, underground duct banks, trenching, manholes and be able to utilize, demonstrate and supervise proper usage of equipment by employees in this power industry.
- Current valid driver’s license required
- Current CDL preferred
- Work is performed both in an office and field environment.
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, twist and lift up to 50 pounds.
