Who we are: Advanced Radiology Services is one of the largest 100% physician-owned and managed radiology practices in the country. Our growing practice includes 180 radiologists, 40 advanced practice providers, and more than 200 employees providing administrative support in our wholly owned subsidiary STARS. We provide services to more than 60 different sites across the state of Michigan.
What we are looking for: We are hiring a full time Referral Coordinator in our Interventional Radiology outpatient office. The Referral Coordinator is responsible for verifying the completeness and accuracy of demographics, insurance providers listed on referrals and follows a standard workflow for referral management.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the transcription and entry of faxed referrals to be entered into Epic EMR for tracking and processing. Also monitors electronic transmission of incoming referrals.
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Assembles and verifies information concerning patients clinical background and referral needs.
- Verify and obtain any necessary documentation or imaging required to process referral.
- Verify eligibility, enrollment history and demographics of members. Confirms payer is in-network with specialist, and if not communicates to patient.
- Answers, responds and documents phone calls, requests, and questions from patients, physicians, ancillary services or specialty offices regarding referral coordination in a timely manner.
- Facilitate/assist obtaining prior authorizations as requested from IR Office.
- Participate in department and staff meetings.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of referral coordination experience in a healthcare setting. Radiology experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel) and EMR experience (EPIC) required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology; basic ICD-10; CPT; and Anatomy.
- Must be able to proficiently read and comprehend documents such as policies, procedures and instructions.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of people within the organization and have a professional image and demeanor.
- Must have excellent phone and customer service skills and demonstrate warmth, patience and compassion with patients.
- Must be able to make appropriate job decisions following standard office policies and past precedents.
- Demonstrated capability in maintaining strict confidentiality with patient information.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
