Reporting to the Café Manager, the Cafe Associate will be responsible for various duties related to daily operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Obtain or ability to obtain a ServSafe Food Handlers Permit within 30 days of employment.
- Collaborate with the management team to ensure adherence to cafe standards.
- Familiarity with FIFO (First In, First Out), Food Safety Zones, and relevant health and safety food standards.
- Demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
- Record and monitor temperature logs as required.
- Set up workstations with necessary ingredients and cooking equipment.
- Prepare, cook, and assemble dishes according to cafe and food safety standards.
- Practice portion control, manage stock lists, and minimize waste.
- Maintain timely food preparation by restocking ingredients and meeting prep times.
- Keep workstations and kitchen equipment clean and orderly.
- Adhere to sanitary, health, safety, and personal hygiene standards.
- Ensure the quality and freshness of ingredients and products.
- Perform tasks with accuracy, speed, and attention to detail.
- Follow cooking directions accurately.
- Assist with opening and closing tasks as assigned.
- Support functions and events as needed.
- Communicate low inventory items and sanitation or maintenance concerns to management.
- Report any violations to management promptly.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- One or more years of experience as a Cook in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask effectively.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in food preparation.
- Ability to work well in a team and independently.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Working Conditions
- Work schedule will include weekends.
- 32-40 hours per week.
