Job Title: Hitachi Mainframe Developer
Location: Remote (USA)

Strategic Business Systems (SBS) is hiring an experienced Hitachi Mainframe Developer to join our remote mainframe team. In this position you will work closely with our customer in the financial sector to develop and maintain a storage roadmap, consult to understand business requirements, and develop solutions. You will also maintain disaster recovery readiness through regular testing.
 

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in mainframe systems, scripting languages, and a strong understanding of Hitachi mainframe platforms. This role involves developing, maintaining, and optimizing mainframe-based applications and scripts to support our business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Development and Scripting:

   • Design, develop, test, and deploy mainframe-based applications and scripts on the Hitachi platform.

   • Write and maintain efficient scripts in languages like REXX, COBOL, JCL, and others used in mainframe environments.

2. System Maintenance:

   • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues within mainframe systems to ensure optimal performance and uptime.

   • Perform regular system audits and maintenance activities.

3. Optimization:

   • Analyze system performance metrics and implement enhancements to improve efficiency and scalability.

   • Collaborate with teams to streamline workflows and integrate automation where feasible.

4. Collaboration:

   • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, business analysts, and QA, to gather requirements and deliver solutions.

   • Provide technical guidance and training to team members as needed.

5. Documentation:

   • Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of scripts, system configurations, and processes.

   • Ensure compliance with company and industry standards for documentation and coding practices.

Qualifications:

• Experience: 5 years of experience in mainframe development and scripting, with expertise in Hitachi platforms.

  • Proficiency in mainframe programming languages (e.g., COBOL, JCL, REXX).Strong understanding of Hitachi mainframe architecture and tools.
  • Knowledge of file transfer protocols, batch processing, and scheduling tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in automation tools and techniques within mainframe environments.

• Certifications in mainframe development or Hitachi systems.

• Familiarity with cloud integration for mainframe applications
