Job Summary
The Director Navy Acquisition (DNA) organisation is the Navy’s centre of expertise for leading the delivery of major acquisition programmes. Programmes are grouped into Programme Management Offices according to the capability being delivered: Ships Acquisition, Support Shipping Acquisition, Equipment & Systems Acquisition, Future Support Acquisition, Future Commando Force and Defence Maritime Services (Next Generation).
Each programme is led through its delivery phase by a dedicated core programme team. Supporting the programmes are a Project, Programme and Portfolio Management (P3M) Team (with specialists in Risk, Schedules, Benefits, Finance, Communications, Acceptance and Governance), and an Acquisition Portfolio Team (covering Portfolio Definition, Assurance and Governance).

Job Description
The Schedule Manager is responsible for leading and supporting Scheduling and Planning activities within the directorate, providing assurance to Programme leaders that the necessary controls and documentation are in place to support effective decision making.
As part of a large Scheduling team, the Schedule Manager may be assigned to support one or more programmes within the portfolio, depending on priorities. They will work with the relevant core Programme Team, and other supporting P3M specialists (Risk Manager, Benefits Manager etc.) to develop and maintain the programme delivery schedule. The role will involve significant engagement with wider programme stakeholders to identify, define and monitor key programme milestones and dependencies. There may be a requirement to carry out other P3M activities e.g. risk & opportunity management, benefits and assumptions management and PCT related work in support of Programme’s across the directorate. Person specification
- Develop and maintain appropriate programme schedules, ensuring milestones are defined and achievement criteria is recorded
- Monitor progress and achievement of milestones in Milestone Trackers, maintaining accurate data sets and preparing reports for programme leaders
- Support the development and management of other programme planning and scheduling work, including providing advice and guidance on work breakdown structures and schedule monitoring.
- Work with the relevant programme risk manager to ensure risks to the schedule are identified, assessed and monitored
- Ensure appropriate scheduling data is captured to support Schedule Risk Analysis (SRA) in order to support programme approvals.
- Support and development of other P3M activities across the Directorate.
