What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Operations Specialist position at Strategic Education?
The Technical Operations Specialist manages and optimizes the daily activities of maintaining and improving the handling of Information Security Governance Controls within the engineering teams in the Education Technology Services (ETS) division of SEI, focusing on Sophia and Workforce Edge.
As a Technical Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining compliance, process change documentation, managing vendor service renewals, and support for internal audits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Assist with compliance audits and risk assessments
Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to compliance and operations
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure adherence to policies and procedures
Participate in the development and implementation of best practices, policies, and standards.
Participate as a team member in the Information Security Governance Committees for Workforce Edge and Sophia.
Assist with the management of third-party systems.
Support the onboarding and off boarding process for engineering team members.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of technical processes and documentation.
Partner with clients to setup integrations, including data sharing and Single Sign On.
Partner with education providers to enable configurations and integrations into the platform.
Job Skills :
Experience working with compliance frameworks
Proficiency in user account management, including provisioning and deprovisioning
Strong understanding of role-based access control (RBAC) principles
Experience with identity and access management (IAM) systems
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
Experience in stakeholder management and relationship building
Knowledge of vendor assessment and selection processes
Experience with contract management and service level agreements (SLAs)
Ability to manage vendor relationships and performance
Experience implementing security best practices
Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and cloud architectures
Strong problem-solving skills and an innovative mindset.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Knowledge in integration technologies, API and file based
Working experience of Single Sign On Integrations and configuration.
Working knowledge of technical analysis concepts, tools, and techniques.
Ability to facilitate communications between stakeholders from all levels of the organization and to objectively identify and resolve conflicts.
Preference to those with related educational model / industry.
Work Experience :
2 years in compliance or technical operations roles
1 years of experience with compliance frameworks (SOC2 Preferred)
1 year of experience with identity and access management (IAM) systems
1 year of experience with contract management and service level agreements (SLAs)
1 year of experience implementing security best practices
1 year of experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
1 year of vendor management experience (preferred)
1 year of experience in working with integrations and SSO.
Education :
Bachelors degree in a related field preferred
Certificates, licenses and registrations :
Relevant certifications such as ITIL, CISA, CRISC, or CompTIA Security
Other :
Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time.
Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
Typical office setting.
Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor.
Travel via plane, car, and metro may be required to perform this job.
Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant.
Access information using a computer.
Effectively communicate, both up and down the management chain.
Effectively cope with stressful situations.
Strong mental acuity.
Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job.
