Overview : An OSP Telephone Maintenance Helper assists a skilled Outside Plant (OSP) technician in the maintenance and repair of telecommunications infrastructure located outside a building, including aerial and underground cables, fiber optic lines, pedestals, and utility pole hardware, by performing tasks like assisting with cable placement, cleaning equipment, and maintaining inventory, ensuring all work adheres to safety regulations and company standards. This is a Full-Time, Temporary position.
Tasks and Responsibilities :
- Pulling and supporting cables during installation or replacement.
- Loading and unloading cable reels.
- Cleaning and maintaining manholes and handholes.
- Helping to secure cables to poles and other structures.
- Assisting with cable splicing and termination under supervision.
- Labeling and tagging cables according to company standards.
- Maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Performing basic cable testing as directed.
- Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Reporting any safety hazards or concerns to the supervisor.
Minimum Required Skills, Education, Experience & Abilities :
Security Clearance Requirements :
Must be able to obtain a Secret level clearance based on a favorable T1or higher investigation.
