Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Academic Instructor to design and deliver leadership development training for the Army’s Journey to Leadership (JTL) Program, supporting Department of the Army civilians. This role includes facilitation of classroom sessions, interpretation of personality and leadership assessments, and one-on-one coaching.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver training across all three JTL Tiers in areas such as communication, conflict resolution, time management, and team building.
- Deliver classroom instruction and coaching in the following subject areas:
- Army Leadership & Values
- Communication
- Critical Thinking & Decision Making
- Conflict Resolution
- Team Building
- Emotional Intelligence
- Personality & Behavior Assessments
- Time Management
- Coaching & Counseling Practices
- Strategic Thinking
- Workplace Resilience
- Provide one-on-one and team-based coaching to participants across all tiers.
- Administer and interpret a variety of assessments including MBTI Step II and 360-degree feedback tools.
- Critique participant deliverables including writing assignments, presentations, and leadership reflections.
- Collaborate with program staff to ensure effective delivery, continuous improvement, and alignment with Army leadership values.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Certified to administer and provide feedback on Benchmark By Design 360 Degree Assessment and MBTI Step II in-depth personality instruments/assessments. The preferred 360 degree assessment instrument is Benchmark by Design, however certification in a comparable 360 Degree Assessment may be acceptable. MBTI Step II is the preferred assessment as it provides additional depth and clarification within each of the four original MBTI dichotomies. (Must provide copies of certifications.)
- Strong facilitation skills and written communication proficiency.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, eligible for installation access, and able to pass a background check.
- Applicants must meet a combination of the following qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in designing and delivering the leadership development modules listed above.
- Served as a civilian in the government workforce working in the DOD or Department of the Army for at least 5 years. Civilian service must have been within the last 10 years and/or Contractor must be currently doing business with the Government with acceptable performance.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in coaching participants, one-on-one and in a team environment, in areas of conflict resolution, mediation techniques, coaching and counseling practices, personal accountability, and communication, and/or a certification in executive coaching.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience developing, customizing, delivering, and explaining personality and behavior assessments. Ability to provide participants with useful methods of applying this knowledge when working with different personalities in the workplace and with customers.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience delivering and explaining assessments on topics such as Team Building, Problem Solving, and Communication. Must have assessments for other modules as needed. Must provide sample of assessments.
