SSU is currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Safety Manager to oversee and enforce workplace safety programs for both construction sites and warehouse operations. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, local safety regulations, and company policies to maintain a safe work environment. The Safety Manager will develop, implement, and monitor safety procedures, conduct training, and investigate incidents to prevent workplace injuries and hazards.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures for construction and warehouse operations.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and local safety regulations.
  • Conduct job site and warehouse safety inspections, identifying hazards and implementing corrective actions.
  • Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions for employees on workplace hazards, equipment use, and emergency response.
  • Investigate accidents, near-misses, and safety violations, documenting findings and recommending improvements.
  • Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ensure proper handling of hazardous materials.
  • Enforce Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policies and proper usage on job sites and in the warehouse.
  • Work closely with project managers, supervisors, and warehouse personnel to ensure safe work practices.
  • Oversee the company’s incident reporting system and ensure compliance with workers’ compensation requirements.
  • Develop and manage emergency response plans, including fire drills and evacuation procedures.
  • Keep records of safety audits, training programs, and compliance reports.
  • Stay up to date with industry’s best practices and implement continuous safety improvements.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification (Construction and General Industry)
  • 5 years of experience in safety management, preferably in construction and warehouse environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 & 1910 safety standards.
  • Experience conducting safety training and audits.
  • Strong understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment, and accident investigation.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in using safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred:

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification.
  • Experience managing warehouse safety programs (forklift operation, material handling, fire safety, etc.).
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
