Strategic Staffing Solutions is currently looking for a Linux/Unix Systems Engineer for a W2 contract opportunity with one of our largest clients!
Candidates should be willing to work on our W2 ONLY, No C2C
Title: Linux/Unix Systems Engineer
Location: Detroit, MI
Schedule: Hybrid (3 days onsite T,W,T)
Duration: 12 Months with possibility to extend
Role Type: W2 contract engagement
Key Skills:
- Understands Mongo DB and how to troubleshoot issues with it
- Open Systems Interconnection (OSI)
- Asset design and maintenance experience in software such as Aspen Tech
- Linux distributions (Red Hat, Ubuntu, etc.) and Unix variants is beneficial
Job Description: A Linux/Unix Systems Engineer designs, implements, and maintains Unix and Linux-based systems, ensuring their stability, performance, and security, and often involves troubleshooting and developing solutions for system-related issues.
Responsibilities:
- System Administration: Install, configure, and maintain Unix and Linux servers, operating systems, and related software.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve system problems, including hardware, software, and network issues.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to ensure optimal system performance.
- Security: Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
- Automation: Develop and implement scripts and tools to automate system tasks and processes.
- Documentation: Maintain clear and concise documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Communication: Collaborate with other IT professionals and stakeholders to ensure smooth system operations and address any issues.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems, networking, scripting (Bash, Python, etc.), and system administration tools.
Certifications:
Certifications like CompTIA Linux , Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or Unix System Administrator (SUA) .
Education
Bachelor s degree
