Job Title : Energy Manager
Contract : 24 Months
Location : Detroit, MI On-Site Required
Job Description :
This position will focus on identifying and implementing energy-saving opportunities across enhancing building performance and supporting the sustainability goals. The Energy Manager will work collaboratively with the Building Controls Director, technicians, and other stakeholders to optimize energy use and reduce utility costs while ensuring operational excellence.
Energy Savings Identification & Project Implementation
Identify, develop, and prioritize energy savings projects, including lighting upgrades, HVAC upgrades or retrofits, and other energy conservation measures.
Track and document energy savings initiatives implemented through ongoing efforts to address deferred maintenance. Provide guidance to Regional Directors on energy-efficient practices and strategies for integrating energy savings into their deferred maintenance projects.
Research and apply for rebates, grants, or other external funding opportunities for energy efficiency projects.
Building Automation System (BAS) Reviews
Work with the Building Controls Director and technicians to perform BAS benchtop reviews and analyze system performance.
Provide recommendations to optimize building controls for energy efficiency.
Support ongoing system upgrades and troubleshooting to enhance building performance.
Building Recommissioning
Coordinate and oversee building recommissioning projects to ensure systems operate as intended.
Identify operational inefficiencies and implement corrective measures to improve energy performance.
Energy Savings Tracking & Reporting
Develop and maintain systems to track energy savings from completed projects.
Prepare regular reports on energy use, cost savings, and environmental impact for internal stakeholders and external reporting requirements.
Utility Budgeting Support
Assist with the annual utility budgeting process, providing data analysis and recommendations to forecast energy costs.
Monitor and validate utility invoices to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
Education :
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Energy Management, Environmental Science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Experience :
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in energy management, building automation systems, or a related field.
Demonstrated expertise in energy conservation measures and building recommissioning.
Experience working with utility data analysis and energy budgeting is highly desirable.
Technical Skills :
Strong knowledge of building automation systems (e.g., Honeywell, Siemens, or similar platforms).
Proficiency in energy modeling tools, utility tracking software, and data visualization platforms.
Familiarity with LEED certification, ENERGY STAR, or other sustainability frameworks is a plus.
