We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced Site & Operations Manager to lead and optimize the full scope of operations at a key manufacturing site for a global chemical company. This role combines strategic leadership, operational excellence, and cross-functional coordination in a highly regulated environment.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
As Site & Operations Manager, you'll be accountable for the safety, compliance, and performance of the site while driving continuous improvement across all operational functions. Your focus will include:
- Safety & Compliance: Foster a safety-first culture aligned with global standards – “Nothing we do is worth hurting people.” Ensure full compliance with SHE, environmental, and legal regulations.
- End-to-End Operations Leadership: Oversee production, logistics, warehousing, planning, quality control, maintenance, procurement, and customer service for both in-house and intercompany products.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute 3-year site development plans, investment projects, and annual budgets to support sustainable growth and innovation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with regional/global teams and integrate business, R&D, and functional stakeholders’ interests into site strategy and execution.
- Team Leadership: Inspire and lead a high-performing, cross-functional team – including matrixed team members – to exceed safety, quality, and delivery KPIs.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Excellence & Performance
- Ensure consistent product quality and service aligned with business SLAs
- Drive operational efficiency and lean manufacturing initiatives
- Support the introduction of new products in partnership with R&D and business leaders
- Manage assets for optimal performance and lifecycle efficiency
Planning, Supply Chain & Logistics
- Lead integrated production planning and scheduling
- Optimize supply chain performance and S&OP processes
- Ensure on-time, in-full delivery with cost controls and service excellence
Finance, Projects & Audits
- Own site budgets, capex investments, and improvement initiatives
- Ensure audit readiness (ISO 9001/14001/45001/50001) and compliance with financial and legal standards (IFRS/local GAAP)
- Monitor KPIs and performance metrics to guide decision-making
People & Culture
- Build a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Coach and develop talent while fostering a positive and inclusive work environment
- Drive performance reviews, development plans, and recognition initiatives
Your Background
Education & Training
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
- Training in Operational Excellence or Lean preferred
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing, supply chain, and compliance frameworks
Experience
- 10 years in manufacturing/operations management, ideally in the chemical industry
- Proven leadership in a multinational setting, including cross-functional and matrix teams
- Strong background in stakeholder management and cross-cultural collaboration
- Demonstrated success in project management, process optimization, and driving change
- Solid understanding of financial management, budgeting, and audit compliance
Skills & Attributes
- Proactive and decisive leader with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communicator who can influence across levels and functions
- Deep understanding of working in both global and local operational environments
- Fluent in English (spoken and written); proficiency in the local language is a plus
