Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a motivated Server Administrator to join their IT team. This role involves assisting in the implementation, support, monitoring, and troubleshooting of Microsoft Windows servers, VMware, and various storage arrays. Compensation:
- Salary Range: $60,000 to $84,000.
- Bonus: 8% annual bonus.
- Relocation Assistance: Available for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate changes to production servers with key application stakeholders.
- Monitor daily and weekly backups.
- Manage the deployment of server operating systems and virus protection patches.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and troubleshoot complex hardware/software issues.
- Create, modify, and maintain server documentation with attention to detail.
- Install or remove hardware/software and associated connections using supplied instructions and tools.
- Monitor service component capacity and take action to resolve shortfalls.
- Develop, document, and implement changes based on requests for change, applying change control procedures.
- Investigate and resolve problems in systems and services, implementing agreed remedies and preventative measures.
- Conduct system software updates, tailoring them to maximize hardware functionality.
- Investigate minor security breaches and assist users in defining access rights and privileges.
- Serve on-call periodically.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Experience and/or working knowledge of Windows and VMware software.
- Entry-level knowledge of server hardware, including monitoring, installation, configuration, tuning, and management.
- 1-2 years of experience with:
- Storage Area Network (SAN) environments.
- 24/7 Datacenter environments.
- Microsoft SCOM/SCCM Servers.
- VMware ESX Servers.
- Basic knowledge of enterprise-level SANs (e.g., 3PAR, EMC) and backup/storage concepts (e.g., Avamar, Data Domain).
- Knowledge of storage tuning, SAN replication technologies, and patch management for Windows environments.
- Working knowledge of ADFS and Active Directory.
- Familiarity with Cloud services (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS) is a plus.
