MENTAL HEALTH SKILL BUILDER (QMHP-A or QMHP-T)

Are you seeking a rewarding yet challenging opportunity to serve others? At Strategic, we work with adult clients in their homes and community to provide individualized, goal-oriented training. We help them achieve and maintain stability and independence in the most appropriate, least restrictive environment. Our Mental Health Skill Builders (MHSB) do community-based work with adult at-risk populations struggling with mental health issues empowering them with the ability to resolve various issues on their own and eliminating cause for out of home/community placement or psychiatric hospitalization. You will have the opportunity to work with an upbeat positive team that truly enjoys helping those in need while receiving training and exchanging treatment ideas.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide community-based therapeutic mental health services to adults eliminating cause for psychiatric hospitalization
- Empower clients to resolve their own problems in order to minimize reliance on the over-involvement of the "system" by helping clients restore healthy family/supportive relationships.
- Assist clients with daily living skills and household management.
- Establish rapport and implement creative, appropriate therapeutic techniques to best meet the needs of the individual client.
- Be hopeful, optimistic, flexible open-minded, and willing to adjust practice for the betterment of clients.
- Complete required clinical documentation per agency and regulatory standards and requiremetns.
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in human services field (psychology, social work, community mental health, counseling, sociology or other qualified human service degree).
- Preferably one year's work/or internship experience working with at-risk adult populations; but will consider those with a passion for helping others.
- Ability to registration with VA Board of Counseling a QMHP-A or QMHP-A Trainee (see https://www.dhp.virginia.gov/counseling/counseling_forms.htm for further information)
- Requires valid driver's license, car insurance & ability to transport clients.
