CTR Coordinator

Position Summary

The CTR Coordinator is responsible for developing and administering a career transition readiness (CTR) curriculum and activities to ensure students receive training and preparation in job search skills, resume development, and self-advocacy prior to separation from the program in compliance with Job Corps Policy and Requirements Handbook (PRH) 3.4.

Essential Functions

• Coordinate and administer the Center’s career transition readiness (CTR) program to ensure each student projected for program completion is assessed and prepared with job search skills and strategies to secure employment, advanced training or military placement.
• Provide an initial introduction to career transition readiness for new students during the career preparation period (CPP) and conduct an initial transition needs assessment.
• Collaborate with the career management team (CMT) to evaluate student progress and project when students transition from one program phase to the next.
• Network with career technical training instructors to promote job development and establish employer partnerships benefiting students.
• Focus significant effort on assisting graduates to obtain employment prior to separation from the program and coordinate requests for career-related leaves for students to conduct home-based job search activities.
• Monitor students’ MyPace career plans and Pathway Achievement Records (PARs) and align job search strategies and transition plans with pathway goals.
• Assist students that are projected for separation to connect with the assigned career transition services (CTS) Specialist prior to separation to promote a smooth transition.
• Assist projected graduates to assemble a portfolio of documents necessary for job search and for obtaining employment including resume, licenses, credentials, and documentation of accomplishments.
• Conduct a final transition needs assessment prior to separation and assist students to connect with transitional support resources.
• Document students’ CTR progress in the Center Information System (CIS) Case Notes module and collaborate with counselors to ensure student contacts are updated in CIS.
• May utilize GSA vehicles to transport students to off-site learning and employment opportunities, appointments, and as needed for retrievals and other center-related needs.
• Maintain accountability of staff, students, and property and adhere to safety practices.
• Promote a harassment-free environment.
• Utilize information systems and handle student data in strict adherence to Job Corps and Strategix policies to protect student’s personally identifiable information (PII) and reduce network security threats.

Qualifications and Experience Minimum

Bachelor’s degree in related field and one year’s experience working with youth, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation, and public speaking skills. Information technology proficiency including MS Office. Unless waived by management, a valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record is required.

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree in related field and teaching or facilitation experience.
