Job Description
The Classroom Paraeducator supports the educational, social, and physical needs of students under the direction of the classroom teacher and school administrators. This role includes assisting with instructional activities, providing one-on-one or small-group support, and ensuring students' safety and well-being in the classroom and school environment.
Responsibilities
- Support classroom instruction by assisting students with learning activities and assignments.
- Provide assistance with toileting, feeding, and lifting as needed to support students' individual needs.
- Monitor and assist with students' safety and behavior during classroom activities, transitions, and breaks.
- Implement teacher-designed accommodations and modifications to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and school staff to support students' individualized education plans (IEPs) and goals.
- Maintain a respectful and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and participation.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or passing score on the Parapro Assessment required.
- Experience working with children in an educational or caregiving setting is desirable.
- Ability to lift and assist students with physical needs, including toileting and feeding.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
