The program is funded through the State Department of Education School Readiness Grant. The Preschool Teacher II will help plan and implement learning activities that promote the social, physical and intellectual growth of preschool children in cooperation with other program staff, including a Preschool Teacher I. The Preschool Teacher II will work under the direction of the Early Childhood Coordinator with support from the Building Principal.

Major Responsibilities
- Work with the lead teachers in planning and preparing materials for children's learning activities
- Conduct learning activities with children
- Contribute information that helps teachers in assessing, recording and reporting children's progress and using the results of assessment to plan activities
- Supervise children's activities to assure their safety
- Assist in maintaining a safe, clean and orderly learning environment
- Provides classroom coverage in the absence of the lead teacher
- Candidates must have as a minimum a Childhood Development (CDA) or equivalent (a minimum of 12 college credits in early childhood education, child development, elementary education or early childhood special education). Associate's Degree in Early Childhood plus two years working experience with preschool children preferred.
- Successful teaching experience at the early childhood and/or kindergarten levels
- Familiarity with the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards
- Current First Aid, CPR and medication certification or willingness to obtain
- Work is primarily in a classroom environment. Preschool classrooms are dynamic with a high level of activity. Incumbent must be able to lift 40 pounds. Other physical demands as specified in job description.
- Program operates on a school-day/school-year schedule - 186 days
