Job Summary: The STRIVE Program Tutor supports young adults aged 18-23 in developing critical life and vocational skills, fostering independence, and facilitating successful transitions into adulthood. Tutors will deliver individualized and small group instruction in practical life skills, employment readiness, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction focused on essential life skills including personal finance, time management, communication, self-advocacy, and daily living tasks.
- Support students in developing employment readiness skills such as resume writing, interviewing techniques, workplace behavior, and job-specific competencies.
- Accompany students on community outings to practice real-world application of skills learned.
- Assist with the creation, implementation, and monitoring of personalized learning plans aligned to students' transition goals.
- Maintain clear and detailed documentation on student progress and participation.
- Collaborate effectively with STRIVE program staff, families, and external agencies or employers to support student growth and goal attainment.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and supportive learning environment.
- Minimum of a high school diploma; associate or bachelor's degree in education, special education, vocational rehabilitation, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with young adults or students with special needs, especially in life skills, vocational education, or transition programming.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire young adults toward independence and successful employment.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
- Work is primarily conducted in classroom settings, community locations, and job sites.
- Some travel within the community to support students in real-world settings.
- Ability to participate actively in community-based instruction and activities.
- Comfortable standing, walking, and assisting students in varied settings.
- Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
