Key Responsibilities:
- As a camp teacher, you will ensure the safety and supervision of campers at all times, both indoors and outdoors, during scheduled activities, meals, and free time.
- Ensures accountability for campers in the specialty areas by conducting continuous headcounts.
- Adheres to the daily activity schedule the Camp/Extended Care Director assigns.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment, enforcing camp rules and procedures.
- Plans implements and leads specialty area activities and provides a supply list to the Camp Director.
- Encourages camper participation in specialty activities and events.
- Reports all accidents and injuries to the Camp/Extended Care Director or Camp Coordinator and completes accident reports.
- Handles camper behavioral problems and provides acceptable discipline.
- Informs the Camp Director of continuous behavioral issues with specific campers.
- Maintains open communication with parents courteously and professionally.
- Attends all scheduled camp staff meetings.
- Work collaboratively with other camp teachers and staff members to coordinate schedules, share resources, and contribute to the overall success of the camp program.
- Assists with arrival/dismissal time for walkers or carpool areas as requested.
Essential Skills & Experience:
At least 18 years of age.
Completed HS Diploma or GED.
Previous experience working with children in a camp, school, or childcare setting.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to adapt to diverse learning styles and accommodate the needs of individual campers.
Patience, creativity, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for working with children.
Flexibility to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, including outdoor activities and inclement weather conditions.
