Position Summary
As a team member, you will collaborate with multiple clinicians and support staff while managing patient flow, sterilizing and organizing instruments, and assisting with both clinical and administrative tasks. Your contributions will play a direct role in enhancing patient care
Teamwork & Communication:
Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills while interacting with all members of the healthcare team. As a key member of the office team, you will work collaboratively to ensure smooth patient flow. You will be expected to function as part of a cohesive team, ensuring appropriate cross-coverage when necessary and adhere to professional standards to foster a positive and productive work environment for everyone.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support
- Scribe & Documentation: Assist clinicians with documenting office visits using an iPad, ensuring accurate and comprehensive records.
- Patient Management: Record medical histories, allergies, medications, skin condition histories while escorting patients to exam rooms, and any additional tasks as requested by providers or the Practice Manager.
- Clinical Preparation: Prepare materials, charts, and supplies for the clinician before patient visits.
- Onboarding & Training: Support clinical trainers in onboarding new Medical Assistants.
- Inventory Maintenance: Ensure patient rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and that expired items are replaced.
Procedural Assistance
- Support in Procedures: Provide support during various medical procedures, including collaboration with Mohs surgeons.
- Photography: Help capture photographs of skin lesions, changes, and Mohs stages for documentation.
- Cross training: Be open to learning additional services, including blue light photodynamic therapy (PDT) and phototherapy with ultraviolet lights as needed.
Specimen & Equipment Handling
- Specimen Collection: Collect, label, and document specimens in line with protocol. Maintain pathology records as required.
- Sterilization: Sterilize, package, and maintain surgical instruments, adhering to safety and aseptic standards.
- Procedure Room Preparation: Ensure procedure and exam rooms are properly prepared and cleaned, including instrument processing and turnover.
Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA) is preferred
- Certified Dermatology Technician (CDT) or experience in dermatology or surgical setting is a plus.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and dermatologic procedures.
- Proficiency with technology, including iPads and electronic medical records (EMRs).
