Director of Operations 135
- Is responsible for all phases of the Flight Department to ensure the highest possible level of safety and efficiency.
- Responsible for development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure successful operation of the Flight Department and management operations.
- Provide current material, publications or revision in an appropriate form including, but not limited to
- Aircraft checklists.
- Performance charts.
- Weight and balance.
- Flight Operations Manuals.
- Approved Aircraft Flight Manual.
- Responsible for maintaining standards of safety by establishing adequate:
- Ground and Flight procedures.
- Ground training and flight training procedures.
- Personnel and staffing procedures.
- Record keeping procedures as specified in FAR’s 91, 135, and other applicable
- regulations.
- Coordinates with Maintenance to ensure maximum efficiency of utilization of aircraft time for all operations.
- Interview, recommend, and when necessary, discipline Flight Department personnel and/or suspend employees, if needed.
- Attend industry meetings as applicable to flight operations.
- Coordinate with the Chief Pilot to determine pilot staffing requirements.
- Ensure coordination between Chief Pilot and Maintenance regarding specific aircraft type MEL’s.
- Responsibility for adherence to all FAR’s as well as prohibiting implementation of arbitrary procedures or practices by Flight Department personnel as coordinated through the Chief Pilot.
- While his duties can be delegated to others, he is responsible for assuring that the training program is administered in accordance with the approved Training Programs and applicable FAR’s.
- Directs the Chief Pilot in establishing personnel rules, policies, wage recommendations and evaluations for Flight Operations personnel for optimum departmental efficiency.
- Promotes a safety culture and proper handling of aircraft and equipment on the ground and in the air.
- The Director of Operations shall be knowledgeable in all
- Flights Operations Manuals,
- FAA regulations, Operations Specifications and other information pertinent to his duties.
- Participates as a Team Member to organize and develop new business opportunities.
- Shall exercise Operational Control at all times.
- Act as a pilot as require maintaining proficiency.
- Act as the Liaison with the FAA Principal Operations Inspector or his designee.
- Ensures and maintains regular and high level of communication with the President, company principals, and staff.
- Has countermanding authority for RII Items.
- Has administrative control of both Operations and the Maintenance Department.
- While the Director of Operations may delegate his duties to a qualified person, he may not delegate his responsibility.
