Job Summary :
The Senior Environmental Scientist will lead and support environmental assessments, permitting, and regulatory compliance efforts for various projects. This role requires expertise in wetlands delineation, stream determinations, and environmental permitting under the Clean Water Act. The ideal candidate will have experience conducting endangered species assessments and preparing NEPA documentation for agencies such as FERC, Duke Energy, and USDA. This position also involves overseeing one direct report.
Primary Essential Functions :
- Conduct wetlands delineations and stream determinations in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Prepare and manage 404 / 401 Clean Water Act permit applications.
- Perform endangered species assessments with a focus on the Northern Long-Eared Bat (NLEB) and Elk Toe Mussel.
- Develop NEPA documentation, including Environmental Assessments (EAs) and Environmental Impact Statements (EISs).
- Ensure compliance with NCDOT environmental procedures for reclamation plans.
- Oversee stream and wetland mitigation planning, implementation, and monitoring.
- Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies to facilitate project approvals.
- Supervise and mentor one direct report.
