Stratus is growing! We are looking for a Projecting Accounting Lead to join our team.
Role & Responsibilities :
Team Leadership & Supervision :
Lead and supervise a team of project accountants, providing direction, support, and training to ensure that team members adhere to best practices and deadlines.
Assign tasks, monitor progress, and manage the workload of the team to ensure timely and accurate completion of billing cycles.
Conduct regular team meetings to address challenges, provide feedback, and ensure alignment with goals and priorities.
Mentor and develop project accountants, providing opportunities for skill development and career growth.
Project Financial Management :
Oversee project setup and maintenance utilizing Deltek Vision ERP software ensuring accurate data entry and reporting.
Ensure timely and accurate billing and invoicing in compliance with contract terms.
Work with Project Managers to develop and maintain project budgets.
Track and monitor project costs, ensuring that all expenses align with the approved budgets.
Monitor and control project expenditures, ensuring proper allocation of costs in line with project contracts and company guidelines.
Accounting and Reporting :
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for projects, including P&L’s and cash flow projections.
Conduct regular financial reviews with project managers to ensure accuracy and timeliness of project financials.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in accordance with GAAP, internal policies and external regulations.
Provide strategic insights into financial performance, helping management identify opportunities for improvement and cost savings.
Collaboration and Communication :
Work closely with project managers to track project progress, providing financial analysis and recommendations to improve project performance.
Regularly communicate financial status and issues to project managers and senior management to ensure alignment across teams.
Serve as a key financial advisor to project teams, offering guidance on budget management, cost controls, and financial best practices.
Liaise with clients regarding project billing, payment status and other financial matters.
Audit and Compliance :
Support internal and external audit processes related to project financials, ensuring documentation and financial records are accurate.
Ensure adherence to contractual and regulatory requirements, as well as internal controls.
Assist in the preparation of reports for audits and ensure accurate and timely documentation for review.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. A professional certification such as CPA or CMA is preferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years of project accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role, preferably in the engineering, architecture or construction (AEC) industry.
Knowledge of various project contracts (fixed-price, time-and-material, cost-plus) and related financial management practices.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Oracle, Deltek) and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and develop teams, collaborate cross-functionally, and communicate effectively with clients and senior management. Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
