The EEG Set Up Technician (EEGT) performs in-home diagnostic testing on patients, which generates reports for physician interpretations. Responsible for the proper, accurate placement of electrodes on the patient, taking proper precautions against skin breakdown. Educate patient on process, putting the patient at ease. Also responsible for the proper setup of all EEG equipment and cameras to ensure the safety he patient and others in the home while ensuring accuracy of readings. Also responsible for accurate setup of EKG testing, if ordered by physician. Also responsible for the proper, safe disconnect of all equipment at the conclusion of the
study. Properly clean, disinfect and store Company equipment.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Perform EEG testing on patients in their home. Ensure proper, accurate placement of electrodes while taking proper precautions to minimize skin breakdown
- Ensure all ordered procedures are completed in an organized, efficient manner
- Effectively interact with patients, family members, etc. to put them at ease
- Work within the scope of the American Society of EEG Technology guidelines while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
- Set up equipment and cameras to ensure patient safety and accuracy of readings. Perform equipment test while in the home
- If setting up EKG testing, ensure electrodes are attached properly. Activate unit. Educate the patient on EKG event button and Hotspot
- Take pertinent patient history on patients and integrate all aspects of care for all age ranges including infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric
- Ensure that inventory is properly allocated and available to conduct in-home studies
- Ensure that completed studies are promptly and properly uploaded
- At time of disconnect verify the validity of patient information
- Adhere to Company Exposure Control Plan, OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen standard, proper hand hygiene
- Properly clean, disinfect, maintain and store equipment in keeping with Company protocols
- Must adhere to HIPAA regulations, Company Confidentiality and Code of Conduct
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Registered EEG Tech credentialing by the Board of Registered Neurodiagnostic Technologists through ABRET and/or Joint Commission experience a plus
Qualifications:
- Superior customer service skills with the ability to establish rapport
- Must be able to travel 100%, and that consists of driving to multiple locations as necessary,
including out-of-state, emotes, and overnight travel
- Able to work effectively and efficiently with minimal direct supervision
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills
- Must react calmly in emergency situations
- Able to make appropriate and timely decisions
- Ability to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Current driver license with valid insurance
- CPR certified
