Overview
The Legal Counsel for Stratus provides legal advice and guidance on a wide range of legal and regulatory issues while protecting the company from legal liabilities. Counsel will spend a significant portion of their time managing the Company’s contracts including drafting, reviewing, editing, and negotiating various agreements. This leadership position ensures excellence in customer service and supports an ethical and respectful work environment.
Responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities:
- Contract Management including draft, review, edit, and negotiate agreements, vendor and supplier agreements, employment and lease agreements and others as needed.
- Litigation Management including provide advice regarding potential legal actions, oversee lawsuits, manage outside counsel, strategize regarding legal actions and defenses, and oversee all discovery efforts.
- Dispute Resolution including handle/negotiate disputes with clients, vendors (payment claims) or regulatory agencies.
- Risk Management including identify and mitigate risks in business, operations, employment practices, contracts, and regulatory compliance.
- HR and Employment including advise on employment related legal issues as needed.
- Insurance and Liability including work with insurance providers to manage covered claims and reduce potential liabilities.
- M&A including oversee legal aspects of any mergers or acquisitions.
- Intellectual Property including ensure protection of trademarks and other proprietary information.
- Legal Training including educate employees on best practices for compliance and to reduce risk.
- Business Insurance including overseeing policies that provide financial protection against various risks and losses.
- Stays current on changes in the law and advise Company accordingly.

Education and Experience:
- A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and license to practice is required.
